subject: Organising An Office Team Building Events As A Way To Unite Your Team [print this page]

This is one reason why you should include some team-boosting events into your corporate calendar to give your workers the chance to be the best example of a working team they can be. Creating a harmonious staff environment is the key to a good office environment.

This article will lead you through great team building tips and if you give these methods a chance then maybe your company will experience a growth in success thanks to stronger team bonds.

1) Explain clearly the purposes of team building exercises If your staff are unaware of why team building is an important task to undertake they may think you are conducting some sort of staff assessment or even restructuring. So elucidate why you are keen to create exercises drawing them together in order to improve the dynamic in the office. By doing this they will start to enjoy the activity and may even loosen up and get to know their co-workers better.

2) Team building is about having fun and removing colleagues from a stale work environment. It is to be expected that your employees could be scared about integrating with other or be worried that they are not performing to a high standard. Don't forget to remind your staff, particularly those who are taking it too seriously, that it is just for fun.If you should have any colleagues not getting into the activities or looking uncomfortable with the process talk to them and let them know it's okay to take things at their own pace.

3) Get all of your colleagues to participate - it is about getting everyone involved. Team building is not just a fun experience for the extroverts it is for everyone, so make sure no one is left out. This may even mean tailor-making activities to meet the needs of everyone. It is vital that all of your office feels like they are important or else the objectives for uniting your team will not be fulfilled.

4) Enlist the help of a professional team building organisation to arrange your day. There are companies out there that know exactly how a team building day should be run, so it will take all the stress out of organising the day to leave it to them so you can concentrate on enjoying the day and motivating your team. But don't forget that team building should include managers too, the way you behave will set the tone for the behaviour of your staff and you want to be personable and approachable around your workers.

5) Leave sufficient time to conclude and give staff time to feedback ideas. When you have wrapped up the day, gather your colleagues in a circle have them reflect upon the experience and describe their personal highlights. Which activity was the most helpful in developing their team building skills? Who did your colleagues get to talk to during the day? Did the day help them to learn something new about themselves? Are your staff aware of any new working dynamics as a result of the team building exercises? What did they like and what did they dislike?

So if your team is keen to join in on a fun day then why not think about a team building day? When my company relocated to Battersea office space we really needed something to help our team bond and a day of orienteering really did the trick.
