Watch what you're eating. There are certain food items which can cause the problem to show up. These include chocolate, cheese, citrus fruits, red wine and other alcoholic drinks from grains. High blood pressure can trigger an attack as well. So it's therefore important that you steer clear of consuming greasy, fatty and salty foods.

On the other end of the line, there are foods that you should have a lot of. Some of them include liver, poultry, mussels, sardines, milk and eggs. These foods are known to be rich in vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 helps in keeping healthy the nerves found in your ears. Taking it as a dietary supplement may also be done.

Stay away from being exposed to loud or prolonged noises. It's necessary that you protect your ears from them. Remember to use earplugs or earmuffs when in places such as construction sites, airports, very busy streets, etc. If you listen to music with earphones, make sure to keep the volume low.

Another thing that causes that ringing to show up is too much earwax. Make sure that you periodically clean your ears the right way, to prevent buildup of excessive earwax. If impacted, it's best to have it professionally cleaned. If you do it yourself, you might hurt yourself and end up with an ear infection, which is another contributing factor.

On a daily basis, do your best to eradicate stress from your life. There are plenty of things which you can do for relaxation. Some of them include: watching a funny movie, verbalizing problems to a friend, walking your dog, reading a book, or taking a rejuvenating bath. Likewise, stay away from anything which can be stressful.

If that buzzing or ringing prevents you from getting a good night's sleep, you may play white noise in the background. It can be done by buying a masker, which is small electronic device. You may also set the TV or radio to static. Or you can simply buy audio tapes that usually produce sounds like hums, waves, winds, rains and others.

There are also some health problems which can be the reason behind the tinnitus symptom. Some of them are diabetes, high blood pressure, tumor, allergy, and neck or head injury. Consult your physician to have these underlying causes treated, so you can prevent the problem from devastating your life.
