subject: Should You Consider A Tanning Bed For Sale? [print this page]

The popularity of indoor training has been increasing steadily for decades now. What Freidrich Wolff started when exporting the first tanning beds from Germany to the U.S. in 1978 has grown into a multi-billion dollar a year industry. 'Artificial' tanning has even become mainstream, with more and more opting for its advantages and benefits. Finding a tanning bed for sale is fairly easy and, for regular users, can save money and makes good sense.

Although relatively few physical outlets make these machines available to the public there is no shortage of places online where one can buy a tanning bed or booth. Most of these units, you'll learn, are manufactured in Asia. Good quality equipment is also available from makers in America and a few European countries (notably Germany and Italy).

According to their figures, they have 197 different models of tanning beds available. And get ready for this... 129 of them are manufactured in China. The second largest supplier (which seems surprising) is Viet Nam, closely followed by the U.S.A., which have 70 and 64 units (respectively) on this website's list of manufacturers. There are even 32 different models made in Indonesia.

The technology has changed significantly since the earliest days of indoor tanning beds (1978) but the principle remains the same. Tanning beds (and booths) utilize UV (ultra-violet) lamps to deliver a spectrum of light similar to natural sunlight. This is typically about 97% UVA rays and 3% UVB. These percentages can fluctuate slightly.

With proper precautions, artificial tanning is safe and effective. Necessary safeguards include goggles and suntan lotion and attention to the amount of time spent 'sun-bathing'. Although much has been made of the hazards involved in indoor tanning, most of this information has been shown to be alarmist and just untrue. We need a certain amount of sunshine and, for many, this is difficult to fit in with their busy schedules.

Then, when those who are usually sun deprived finally score a tropical vacation, they're pale- white on arrival and have to be super-careful to keep from getting sunburned during the entire stay. Having some indoor tanning sessions before the vacation will not only make you look better but your skin will already be conditioned to take the tropic sun.

Fortunately for nine-to-fivers many tanning salons are open during evening hours, some even 24/7. There are even coin-operated machines that require no attendant. Or, you can do as many are starting to do and buy your own machine. Even used units are out there. It's easy to find a tanning bed for sale. They're all over the Web.
