subject: Thoughts From The Box —"So How's Your Vision?" [print this page] While playing basketball the other day, I was severely injured. I must say, this was not your typical basketball injury. You see, I was poked in the eye. Now you might laugh (giggle) and I do admit that I can be a little dramatic at times. But for real, it hurt. Just imagine a 26 year old man crawling on the gym floor looking for an eye with only one good one! "My eye, my eye", I yelled repeatedly. It was horrible.
Seriously, in life, don't we sometimes become comfortable with the vision we are given. Let's be real, it's taken for granted. We may believe that our eyesight is good enough as it is to even neglect going to see the eye doctor, like myself. Until something happens to our eyes, like my incident, do we realize that a healthy vision is very important.
After going to the doctor and finding out that everything was ok, I came to realize that I truly forgot how powerful the sun really is. When I bruised my eye, the light from the sun was very irritating, which was painful but also insightful. You see, with this event, I have come to appreciate the sun a little bit more and the power of its light.
I believe we sometimes need our spiritual vision poked too!
I know I sometimes become so comfortable with my spiritual vision and my problems that I tend to forget how powerful the true Son really is and how His light can guide me throughout life's circumstances. What about you? Do you need a spiritual poking?
Prayer,
God poke my spiritual vision and let me see your Son for who He really is. Release me from my spiritual comfort zone Father, so I can reflect Your Son's light to the rest of the world. Amen.
