Are you looking for ways to lose belly fat? There are a number of great ways and they do not involve diets or sit ups. Why? Because diets are short term in nature and do not consider the long term issue of basic nutrition and sit ups are designed to build muscle and do not exert enough energy to burn fat at any noticeable rate.

So, how do you go about losing belly fat? Well, first you need to understand that you can not spot reduce fat on your belly any more than you can reduce it on your chin. When you lose fat you will lose it all over your body.

The first and easiest way to lose belly fat is to avoid foods containing High Fructose Corn Syrup or HFCS. This is easier said than done because the vast majority of processed foods from soft drinks to my high fiber breakfast cereal contain this evil little ingredient. Manufacturers switched from processing foods with sucrose to HFCS because it was cheaper to make and sweeter. The problem is that it converts to fat faster than sucrose and, consequently, we have an international epidemic of obesity. If you eat things like fresh fruit, veggies and nuts, lean beef, bison, turkey, chicken and fish you be well on your way to losing fat and belly fat in specific. My wife lost 40 pounds in a year just by eliminating nothing but soft drinks.

Now, instead of doing sit ups you need to start lifting weights. Why? Because the more muscle you have the more fat you will burn throughout the day because your body has to work harder to carry it. But, we are going to lift weights a little differently than you may be used to because we are going to use a device called a kettlebell.

A kettlebell (KB) looks like a cannonball with a handle and, because of its design, is ideal for swinging between your legs. Simply, swing it between your legs, thrusting out with your hips. That is it, pretty easy, right? Well, it is. But, it will also leave you winded in no time. That is because there is an added cardiovascular element associated with KBs that you do not get with barbells. In fact, KBs are so effective at burning fat that I have heard of people losing 100 pounds in a year by just doing KB swings.
