When you come in contact with that first small (or large) handfull of concrete you will discover it to be easily workable and normally very pliable. No doubt it will be a really exciting moment for you especially if it's your first time (for most of us it's exciting no matter how many times we do it). Just remember, there's typically a limited amount of time you have available bring the whole thing off. Anyway you will find as you get your hands on it (and you probably will want to have gloves on...or not) and begin to work and mold and handle it that it is not quite as easy to work as the pros make it out to be. You might be surprised to discover that it doesn't take very long before the whole thing starts getting stiffer and harder to handle. It is at this juncture that more effort, maybe a lot more effort, on your part is required to get the concrete where you want it and how you want it. And that's the point of the whole exercise (or job). To get from something just laying around on the ground to something solid and functional that you can use over and over again. On your first attempt, though, you might try working a smaller amount to begin with and then, as you get more profiencent, tackling something larger and/or more challenging. I remember my first few rounds with the mud (another word for concrete) and I sure wouldn't want to go back and claim 'em now. But you know what they say, practice makes perfect. In the end, and you will eventually reach that end, you'll find yourself rewarded with a job well done.
So, I don't know. Is concrete sexy? Well, that's just something you'll have to decide for yourself.
