subject: Nascar Tickets - Carl Edwards Tries For 50th Career Nascar Win [print this page] Carl Edwards is currently (as of AugCarl Edwards is currently (as of Aug. 13) running in ninth place in NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series and second in Nationwide, but making the Chase for the Sprint Cup isn't the only thing on Edwards' mind going into the tail end of NASCAR season. Edwards is also to claim his 50th career win split between NASCAR's three series, and he'll cross a huge milestone next time he zooms into Victory Lane.
Edwards' latest victory was a Nationwide win at Gateway on July 17, putting him at 49 career wins since joining the ranks of NASCAR. His totals currently stand at 16 Cup wins, 27 Nationwide victories and six in the Truck Series, and the Aug. 15 Cup race at Michigan might just be lucky No. 50 for the Roush Fenway superstar.
Edwards has a history with the Michigan International Speedway, as the track is where he first made his Cup Series debut six years ago. He's won the Michigan race twice at the Cup level and once in Nationwide, and it's only fitting that he should cross into elitist territory with his 50th career win at the track.
Motorsport website reported that Edwards spoke about shooting for 50 and on hopefully accomplishing it at Michigan in mid-August, saying, "Michigan is one of the best tracks we could be going to right now. This marks the sixth anniversary of my first Cup race so this race always reminds me of that day and what a great opportunity Jack Roush and Ford has given me."
Should Carl Edwards cross the threshold into 50s territory, he will join only 12 other drivers in history since 1972 who have won more than 50 career races. He will also become one of only seven active drivers to pick up more than 50 wins between NASCAR's three series and join teammates Mark Martin and Greg Biffle as Roush Fenway Racing's only drivers to have ever done so.
For now, Edwards is set up nicely going into the Carfax 400 at the Michigan International Speedway on Aug. 15. Racing fans are out to get NASCAR tickets to the Michigan race to see Carl Edwards achieve a career mile-marker, but even if he doesn't do it at Michigan, Edwards has several more chances to do so this year.
Edwards currently sits at No. 9 in driver standings on the Cup circuit, which puts him in contention for the Chase if he stays consistent through the next few races. The Chase begins Sept. 19 at Loudon, and Carl Edwards has a shot at knocking three-time Cup champion Jimmie Johnson out of the top spot in this year's championship series.
He hasn't yet won a Sprint Cup Series race this season, but Carl Edwards is a consistent front-runner who has certainly paid his dues in the circuit. He's grateful for the chance to get to run at the front of every NASCAR race he enters, and that coveted 50th win will be a huge one for No. 99.
Reflecting upon how far he's come in his six seasons in NASCAR, Edwards told motorsport online, "10 years ago when I was racing at the small dirt tracks I would not have imagined that (50 wins in NASCAR) to be a possibility. I've been very fortunate to be part of such a great team at Roush Fenway. It's an elite group of individuals and they have made me look good and I appreciate that."
Will Carl Edwards be the next driver to cement his place in the record books with 50 career wins? It could come yet this season, and racing fans can find tickets online to witness it all.
