First go to Facebook and create your profile and fill it out!
Then, in your about me section that goes right underneath your photo in profile, let people know who you are and what you do. For example mine says "online marketing coach, helping everyday people turn their passions into profit." That is where you want to tell people who you are and what you're an expert in.
The next step is getting friends. (if you already have a Facebook, I highly suggest creating a new one to separate your personal and business life) This is where people fail to utilize Facebook to it's full potential. You SHOULD NOT just add people at random. It is a good way of getting slapped by Facebook (disable your account). What you want to do is search for people who may be interested in your product or service. If you're selling dog food, you should find the social group "dog lovers" or "Mans Best Friend" and begin to add friends from the list AFTER you join the group.
If you don't join the group you will look like a spammer and more than likely get flagged or slapped.
Next a confirmation to add that person will appear and in the bottom left hand corner you will see some blue text that says "click here to add a personal message" Click on it..
When the text box appear you need to put the following...
Hey [persons name],
I saw that you're a fan of dogs. Me Too! It's great to connect with you.
That's it and that's all. They will begin to research you and if you have your company website or your landing page listed on your profile, you're all gravy baby!!
You also want to be active in that community and help people out. It will brand you as a leader and show people you know what you're talking about..
NOTE**** Do not abuse the people you add as friends. They are on Facebook to genuinely connect and escape the business world. BE THEIR FRIEND. Do not send them spammed messages or anything. If you want to update your status and say "Hey free webinar tonight.. go here to register..." that's fine but do not tag everyone in it.
