A properly planned move is a less stressful one as well. Moving is never completely easy, but these tips can help lighten the burden and lessen the stress involved.

Moving, for lack of a better term, is a necessary evil for most. It doesn't matter if you're getting ready for college and moving out of your parents' home or a family person simply moving to a new house nearby, out of state or overseas - moving can be tough. Let us face it, it's tough having to pack up belongings then transfer them to a new place, but it shouldn't always be such a difficult task. In fact, you can plan your move properly and make things much easier for yourself.

One good way to get started is to list the content of each box you're going to move. Have a notebook handy, or even a simple sheet of paper - this way you can update your list first when packing the box with belongings, then when you're putting the box aside. Creating the list can be made even easier by numbering the boxes, instead of the standard process of writing "bedroom" or "bathroom" or other room names. Number the box then write down a summary of what exactly is inside the box. When moving things to your new home, it will be much easier if you refer to a box marked "#1 - Contains Mugs, Plates, Etc." rather than simply unpacking a box that indicates that it came from the kitchen.

You should also consider taking time to list down and/or plan the things that need to be done before and after the move takes place. Ensure that before you live in your new place, you have access to all utilities and emergency services by making a list of important numbers to call for your telephone, electricity or Internet bills, and numbers to contact for the police station, hospital or fire station. Make another checklist for the house that you are moving from, including all the numbers of the utilities and services you need to cancel or change address for. Forwarding your mail in advance can help you avoid having to pay overdue bills or receive your bills considerably late.

If you wish to avoid unnecessary stress, follow these tips, although there are certainly more that one can think of. Organizing things before the move may be the big difference in determining whether your move would be a hectic and stressful one or not.
