subject: Healthy Hair Advice For Busy Women [print this page]

Love sexy healthy hair but hate the thought of sitting in the stylist's chair waiting for it to show up? Actually you can get the same gorgeous tresses at home. That's right, you can have fabulous hair in minutes just by using simple styling tools anyone has in their bathroom. Here's how.

Washing: To keep your hair healthy, wash it every other day with a mild shampoo and conditioner. When lather up gently massage the hair closest to the scalp to remove accumulated oil and grime. Next be sure to put the conditioner just on the tips of your hair. Moisturizing the driest hair like the ends is important if you want radiant shine. Finally rinse your hair thoroughly to get all the styling products out.

Tip: Want to know your very best color? Check out photos of yourself in kindergarten. Your hair was lighter then. Those photos are the perfect window to natural color choices for you.

Healthy Eating: Your hair is what you eat. Healthy hair comes from eating dark leafy vegetables and getting plenty of Vitamin A - think carrots. For stronger hair you'll want to put lean proteins on the menu. And for heavens sake don't forget to hydrate. Yes, you want to drink plenty of water. A healthy diet is crucial for gorgeous hair.

Drying: When it comes to drying your hair, rubbing is out. Rubbing only causes tangles and breakage. Squeeze out the excess water into your towel. Dry it just enough so it's not dripping while blow drying with the dryer set on at the lowest heat setting that works. For best results, apply a protective serum to your hair before blow drying. Where ever possible air dry your hair about two thirds of the way to dry. Also hold the dryer at least 12 inches away from your head. Another helpful tip is to separate your hair into sections.

Combs and Brushes: For texture and detangling, you need a wide tooth comb. Ideally you want a good bristle brush for everyday use if you can afford it. You can easily create volume using a barrel brush. While a flat brush is a must have for great pony tails. A good paddle brush works best for medium to long locks.

Tip: A final rinse using mineral water is the secret to a great blow dry. Failing to do so is a big hair no no.

Clearly you don't need to go to the salon to get vibrant, sexy hair. Besides once you know what works with your styling becomes fun an easy. Not to mention the results speak for themselves.
