subject: The Benefits Of Viewing Gardening Programs On An Lcd Television [print this page]

Have you ever watched your favourite gardening programs on an LCD television? If you never have, you should. It's a visual experience to be relished. The colour is bold and vivid. Getting accustomed to the dulled colours of your old television set won't prepare you for the delightful experience of the LCD.

Hence the name, LCD, which stands for liquid crystal display. The liquid crystal was something that was discovered back in the late eighteen hundreds, but it is only now that it's being put to use in the monitors of television sets, computers, airplane control panels and clocks. Its lightweight matter allows it to be used in even the displays of calculators and wrist watches.

Liquid crystal displays are formed of liquid crystals, a substance made of complex molecules. They resemble water in the fact that they become a solid mass when frozen and melt when heated. For a brief period, at a certain heat temperature, the liquid crystals become cloudy, more like oil or alcohol than water at this point. Greater heat will cause the liquid crystals to become clear again.

When used in an electronic display, an electric current runs across the surface of the liquid crystals in order to keep them at the cloudy stage. This creates the background for the startling clarity you witness when watching an LCD television.

The construction of LCD's is a complicated combination of layering special glass, electrodes, substrates and so many other technical materials that it takes someone electronically minded to be able to understand it. But we are all able to understand the awesome picture and brilliant hues of an LCD screen.

As you watch your favourite gardening program, your viewing pleasure will reach a whole new level. The colours will stagger you. The green of the grass, the trees and the bushes will seem to pop from the television. The rich colour of the soil and the bright colours of lilies, geraniums and roses will seem so alive you'll almost be able to smell them. Autumn colours will be crisp. Winter whites will be faultlessly clean.

When you're following your favourite television gardener in his vegetable patch, everything will seem startlingly real. The red ripeness of his tomatoes, the velvety dark purple of his prized orchids, the clean green of his bell peppers and the yellow gold of his onions will seem so present you will almost be able to smell them.

LCD displays are going to be around for a long time. They're the technology of today and the future. Even though their construction can be complicated and the rate of discarded units is still fairly high, funding for research into new manufacturing methods ensured success.

Do yourself a favour and buy an LCD television of your own. You'll love the difference from your old TV. Treat yourself to your favourite gardening programs in the luxury of liquid crystal. As an added bonus, it's been proven that LCD's use less electricity that older television models, so you're even saving money!
