There are many colors and patterns that are genetically possible in the feline population. Although they don't determine a cat's breed, colors have powerful influence in choosing a kitten that one wants. So, how did all these incredible color combinations come about?

Since black is dominant and white is a masking genes, the two cannot mix. Unless, there is a blue or silver cat either or both of the parent's bloodline, the kittens are probably not going to be gray.

Remember that the term blue refers to the gray-blue color also known as gray. The gray color is a dilute version of black described by some as deep bluish-gray. Some breeds are more associated with this color, but it can be seen in many breeds or with mixed-breed cats.

The Grey World of Cats

A silver tabby has black stripes on a white ground color. With white hair roots, the tabby pattern is actually enhanced by the greater heterogeneity between the almost-white ticked hairs and the full color of the solid hairs.

They have the calm tranquillity common to British breeds of cats. When on show display an aristocratic dignity they make it quite plain that acclaim is an essential part of their lives.

Bi-color kittens are those who have patches of white and any solid color. Black and white bi-color has a background of white with clearly outlined black areas, as opposed to shaded points. Black and white kittens are the typical range of bicolor patterns.

Choosing from among the varieties of colors, patterns, and breeds for the cutest kitten is in the eye of the cat lover. If you see any cinnamon, or cream or gray or some black and white kittens that capture the onlooker's interest, then give them a nice, clean home to grow up to be a healthy cat.
