subject: Can digital photography classes help you? [print this page]

If you're reading this article then good on you, for the simple fact you want to learn more about photography and how to develop your skills as a photographer. In this article I am going to discuss photography classes and if they would be suitable for you, so please keep on reading.

Photography classes can be very expensive and time consuming, I've been to various different photography classes and groups in the past and have found that to get the most out of them you really do have to make a commitment and give up around 3 hours twice a week. Now obviously some classes are longer and some are shorter but in general most of them take a few hours twice a week.

I must admit when I started learning about photography I loved going to the classes, I got to use more expensive equipment than I could ever imagine and I also was taught how to use the equipment which was great. The only downside was the price and while it was a fair price it was still quite a lot to pay each week, especially when you are first starting out and you're not making any money from photography.

What I would say is that if you can afford to go to a class then do so, however if money is a little tight then you do have some other options. You could attend a college class, which is far more affordable but the quality of subjects taught in my opinion isn't as high. Another alternative is the internet and library where most things can be found for free.

The best way to learn in my opinion however is to just get out there and start taking photos. It doesn't matter if you mess up or take rubbish pictures simply because these mistakes will help you on the way.
