subject: The Great Achievements Of The Emergency Tv Series [print this page]

The Emergency TV series made it into the lives of every American through the efforts of the TV legend, Jack Webb. The series created a stir among the people in the seventies by its depiction of the life of paramedics and firefighters in emergency rescue missions. It involves the paramedics Gage (played by Randolph Mantooth) and DeSoto (played by Kevin Tighe) in their assignments which range from plane accidents, rescuing a horse from a ditch to baby deliveries. These paramedics are ably supported by emergency room hospital staff played by Bobby Troup, Robert Fuller, Julie London and Deirdre Hall. Portraying the adventure and risks in the life of the protagonists of the series, Emergency was hugely popular among the young and old alike. It has created a niche for itself in the TV serials which every program will try to emulate.

Get to Know the People

The Emergency TV series is a must-watch for everyone who loves fun and adventure. It has glorified the work of the paramedics, firefighters and doctors which was heretofore not given much attention. The trend in the regular TV fare before the arrival of this series was based on soap opera dramatics. This series arrived like a breath of fresh air and made the nation sit up to the great work being done by these selfless people. What helped people identify more with this serial is the use of actual jargon spoken by the firefighters and paramedics in emergencies. The language made the serial come alive.

Dedication Personified

People understood the risk that the firefighters, paramedics and doctors have to undergo while on a rescue mission. The Emergency TV series showed the dedication of the firemen and the risks that they take in order to save lives. It depicted the difficult situations that they deal with and you could understand better how these people are so important for rescuing you from impossible circumstances. The creators of this series wanted everyone to realize the commitment of the firemen in real life and the series was successful in doing so.

Contribution of the Cast

The total Emergency TV series spread over two seasons. The first season was welcomed by the people in a great way but it had the main cast digging in their feet into the series. The second season had a much better run with a more improved cast including Michael Norell in a main role. The people involved in the serial have built up camaraderie and the chemistry between them was obvious in the scenes. There were many actors too who had put in a guest appearance but were as appealing as the main cast.

Timeless Show

It was totally by chance that the Emergency TV series transformed the way people looked at the firefighters. The show was a runaway hit and it was clean enough to be watched by the entire family together. Some people were so inspired by it that they joined the fire department later. It is hard to imagine our lives without the contribution of these great firemen. The series was indeed an eye opener for many.
