French dcor in all its forms is something to look at and looks its best when done well. For example, if you have a spare bedroom you think could use a bit of a facelift, designing it in the style of a certain type of French styling, could really give the room a bit more character. When designing your spare room you will need to think about the size of your budget. If you have some cash to spare then lucky you! You are able to invest in a few items of quality French Furniture that will transform your room instantly.

First you will need to look at the walls in your room. To keep everyone happy, stick to neutral colors unless you want your room to look intense and so instead look for deep reds, yellows or even mustard shades. When you have finished painting your walls, you should then look at the flooring. Always paint the walls before you install new flooring this prevents any paint ruining your new beautiful floor panels! In regards to flooring, you should be looking at marble floors or some beautiful shiny wooden flooring.

Another thing you might want to do before you start loading your French Furniture into the room is to look at the little details of your room. Raised wall panels and typical French doors add to the look without looking too fussy.

You will now need to choose your French Furniture. The array of French Furniture is copious. What you will need to decide is which period you want to choose from. Rococo is a popular choice as well as Art Deco. Do some research first and see which style you like and then shop around for the best deal you can find on the internet. To give it a modern feel, you can always mix the styles up and rely on your own judgment when placing older items of furniture with newer, more modern pieces.

When it comes to lighting, you can go as far as buying French inspired candle sticks or you can opt for a full on crystal chandelier for maximum impact. If you want something less flash, then perhaps opt for some wall lamps. You should be looking for styles that are curly curved and ornate to give your room that elegance you want.

When it comes to the textiles you need for your room, the possibilities really are endless. Find some fresh white linen with perhaps a faded floral bedcover to add a touch of Shabby Chic' to your room. Other accessories you might like to look for are things like French Mirrors. French Mirrors usually have beautifully carved ornate frames detailed with vines, tendrils and leaves. These can look particularly stunning when used as a centre piece for a room. Not only will your French Mirrors look beautiful, they will also maximize the space in your room as they will bounce any natural light that's present. Mirrored Bedroom Furniture is also something to look out for. Mirrored Bedroom furniture, like a mirrored wardrobe or cabinet can give your room a more unusual look but keep the whole look of the room chic.
