Best Time to Go on Memphis Vacations
Best Time to Go on Memphis Vacations

When planning your Memphis vacations, you may ask at some point when the best time to go is. Weather is always a major consideration; if you wish to avoid the hot and sweltering season, you can cross off June, July, and August or if the cold weather does not appeal to you, avoid going during the months of November, December, January, and February. Moderate temperatures are in spring and fall, with May and October being the best months for outdoor activities and annual events and festivals. May is when the Beale Street Music Festival is held, the World Championship Barbecue Contest, and Desti-Nations International Family Festival; the great food, great music, with something new learned, and the consistent weather make an irresistible combination tourists cannot resist. October is when Memphis is dressed in spectacular colors of yellow, gold, red, and orange that draws numerous leaf peepers in every year and because of the fine weather, it is an ideal time for hiking and camping along nature trails and parks. There are also many festivals and fairs like the Pink Palace Crafts Fair, as well as a full month of Halloween related activities such as trips to haunted houses, trick or treating, and other scary events.

Packing Tips for Memphis Vacations

Wise and savvy travelers go by the idea that to pack right, you need to pack light and for those planning their Memphis vacations, this could mean the difference between a good and bad trip. For clothes, some planning is required to make sure that you do not over pack; choose items that you can mix and match such as tops that will go with any pair of pants or skirts that you brought along and those that you can wear at least twice during the entire trip. When you plan your trip, make sure that the clothes are appropriate for the weather and season; Memphis summer temperatures can rise up to sweltering degrees so light cotton clothing is recommended while spring may bring forth rains and thunderstorms that will require a waterproof jacket with a hood to keep you dry. For shoes, it is a good idea to bring a comfortable pair or two for walking especially if you plan to do some sightseeing and exploring, one formal pair for evenings out that you can match with any outfit, and for longer trips, a pair for working out. Keep your jewelry and other valuables to the bare minimum, the less you take with you, the less time you have to worry about making sure they are safe.

Activities for Memphis Vacations

Visitors coming in for some Memphis vacations chose wisely with their destination as the city offers a great mix of history, great food, great music, and world-renowned attractions. A trip to Graceland is on most tourists list of things to do; this 14-acre property was once the home of Elvis Presley, the King of Rock n Roll. Here, visitors can take guided tours and walk through the mansion and see Elvis music room, trophy building and the garden where he is buried, look at his cars and motorcycles at the Automobile Museum, see the recreated airport terminal and the two jet planes, and watch home movies and look over photographs of Elvis in his private life. The Mud Island River Park is another top attraction and a great destination for both single and group travelers as it offers many indoor and outdoor activities such as the River Walk, a replica of the Mississippi River that ends in an enclosed area that is the Gulf of Mexico. Within the park is the Mud Island Amphitheatre where live concerts are held and aside from the full season entertainment, its 5,000 seats will provide you good views of the real Mississippi River.
