Apparently, these marks are not only considered as embarrassing but it can also cause anxiety especially if these marks will be seen in public. Usually, summer and warm weathers would elicit a great deal of anxiety and embarrassment for people who have these white stretch marks. There are even some individuals who can't bear seeing themselves at the mirror with the awful looking marks.

White stretch marks can appear in almost all parts of the body. There are a lot of other possible explanations for the development of stretch marks and one of them would be rapid skin stretching. This happens when the skin is unable to adjust to the rapid stretching. The skin is also weakened at this state due to the increased level of hormones that affect the body's production of collagen and elastin, which are both important when it comes to maintaining the skin's elasticity.

White stretch marks are initially colored red or purple due to the inflammation caused by the tearing of the skin. Eventually, these marks would fade into a much lighter tone but still very visible. No matter what the cause of these skin pigmentations, the main concern is that, these marks can decrease a person's self-confidence. A person who has such awful looking marks on the skin would often feel ashamed and embarrassed or worse, a person can get depressed. The occurrence of these marks is common among pregnant women, obese, body builders, and those who are in their stage of puberty.

There are no known treatments for stretch marks except for surgery. Plastic surgery is the only known solution for the treatment of stretch marks; however, this procedure is very expensive and very risky. Therefore, this is not the best solution for everyone.

There are some ways that will help in improving the appearance of the marks on the skin without undergoing risky procedures. Some of these procedures would include laser therapy, microdermabrasion, exfoliation, and chemical peeling. However, these procedures are not that effective when it comes to white stretch marks. They only work effectively for new marks although it may still be able to make some improvements in the appearance of the skin marks.

To sum up, having white stretch marks can be frustrating and annoying at the same time. The only way to permanently eliminate the marks would be through surgery, which is not only expensive but also very risky to try. There are some dermatological procedures that can effectively get improve the appearance of new stretch marks but not white stretch marks. Hence, it is recommended to treat the marks while they are still new.
