Usually, people who have stretch marks on the thighs and legs would develop low self-esteem. They are embarrassed to have these skin pigmentations especially on the obvious areas of their body. Having skin marks on these areas can cause embarrassments especially during summer. This is why people who have stretch marks on thighs and legs would not want to wear swimsuit because this area of their skin would be exposed.

Nobody would wish to have stretch marks on their skin especially in the most obvious areas of the body. This can be very disadvantageous especially during summer. It would not be convenient to always cover the marks on your skin because this will not help you to relax and enjoy the beauty of the beach; however, people who have these marks have no choice but constantly do it in order to hide the marks on their skin.

In general, stretch marks are formed when the body is experiencing changes in a short period of time. This is considered as a physical cause of stretch mark. The skin is not able to keep up to the pace of the body change which causes the skin's connective tissues to tear. The skin is stretched beyond its limit which is why the tissues are torn.

The tearing of the connective tissues leaves purple or red marks on the skin. In time, the marks would eventually fade into white or silver but still visible. Aside from that, the textures of these marks are also different compared to the normal skin.

Aside from rapid stretching, the marks can also be due to hormones. There are some hormones that can weaken the skin and prevent the body from producing collagen and elastin which are both responsible for maintaining the skin's elasticity. These hormones are usually active during puberty and pregnancy.

If you are wondering whether it is possible to get rid of these marks on your skin, you need to realize that like scars, these stretch marks are also permanent. You can't simply eliminate the marks on your skin except if you are going to undergo risky procedures such as surgery. However, there are some methods that can effectively improve the appearance of the stretch marks on the skin.

An example of this method would be exfoliation. This has been a popular method for reducing the appearance of skin blemishes and scars. Exfoliation can be done at home through the use of some natural ingredients. If you are planning to exfoliate, make sure that you also moisturize your skin because exfoliation can damage your skin if it is not properly moisturized.

There are some individuals who prefer to undergo dermatological procedures such as chemical peeling. In chemical peeling, the dermatologist will apply a solution on the skin which results to peeling of the skin. The chemical solution will peel off the skin to lighten the appearance of the skin marks and blemishes. Unfortunately, dermatological procedures such as chemical peel and microdermabrasion are only able to improve the appearance of skin marks and not completely eliminate them.
