subject: Prepare For Your Future Career: Grants For Mothers [print this page]

It's never a bad time to invest in education and your future. It's especially important that mothers have the tools to be able to care for their families. It's important not to pass up educational opportunities like grants. They could be the first step to becoming part of a popular industry.

It should be no surprise that communications and technology are areas that are steadily rising in importance. For work and play most people use several forms of sophisticated technology. It takes many people to develop these products as well as to help people use them. In the next five years, the field of computer software engineering is expected to grow significantly. Analysts and administrators for IT are just a couple of the areas that are expected to grow.

Another area where there is anticipated job growth is healthcare. If being a doctor or nurse doesnt appeal to you, there are many other medical fields to consider. Athletic trainers, physical therapists and occupational therapists provide vital support for patients and will be very much needed. Mental health counselors are also expected to be in increased demand. Many occupations in health and medicine require an advanced degree, but there are also many jobs that require specialized coursework or training instead.

Although the job outlook appears dark now, there is still reason to be optimistic. A number of industries and service areas could see growth in the rebounding economy. There is at least one similarity among all this professions: education. If youre a mother, you may think your chance has passed but there are programs tailored just for you. In 2009, President Obama introduced the Grants for Moms initiative. The Obama administration intends to make going to school more appealing and easier to accomplish with the $5,000 scholarship. There are many mothers who could benefit from the opportunity to earn an associate's, bachelor's or specialized degree.

Moms have a lot of responsibility for their children and families, and the Obama education grants are an effort to give something back to them. Universities and junior colleges all around the country have worthy programs of study for all kinds of interests. For moms out there who are searching, there are many good opportunities for you.
