Why is bankroll management so important for beginners?

Bankroll management is very important for beginning poker players because it provides guidelines for how much is needed to actually play winning poker. An effective bankroll management strategy for beginners to the game of poker also helps new players to have enough time to learn the nuances of the game while playing.

The best bankroll strategy to follow is the 100 times the big bet strategy when sitting down at a table and the 20 buy-ins bankroll strategy for what limit to play. For example if you wanted to sit down at a $.50-$1 no limit table you would need to buy in for at least $100 ($1x100=$100) to sit down at that table and be able to play effectively. This number can now be applied to your total bankroll to decide if this level of play is sustainable for you. You would need 20 buy-ins or $2000 ($100x20=$200) for this level of blinds to be sustainable for you, you will also want to figure in how important $2000 is to you. If losing that $2000 means you cannot make your house payment or car payment you most definitely should not be playing at this level and should step down to a more sustainable, safe level that does not affect your livelyhood to play.

What i have explained thus far may seem like I am trying to discourage a new player however this is exactly opposite of what i am doing. I am instructing you on how to manage a bankroll so you can have maximum learning/fun time playing this great and challenging game we call poker.
