And you can't blame these companies, because it is very true that women surfing don't have a lot of followers and fans.
Of course the fact that there aren't a big number of sponsors doesn't have to make you think that surfing for girls isn't competitive, extreme and attractive. It is actually a very interesting sport and a lot of the women practicing it can perform some special tricks even better than men. However due to the lack of interest, there aren't many good women surfers, but there are more and more learning to become the best.
The main difference between men and women surfing are the swimsuits used. Men use the well known board shorts, which are used for years and they are surely one of the most comfortable swim wear you can find for men. Women, however, don't use board shorts, but instead suits that look like ordinary swim wear. These suits usually consist of a top and bottom. However the top is tightly secured to not fall off when being hit by water and etc.
Surfing boards on the other hand are exactly the same for both men and women. However there is a chance that you will find some boards for women who are smaller in size than the usual ones, but this is pretty normal, because women are naturally smaller than man.
Except the "girl surfing" competitions, there are also annual races which consist of both men and women surfers. These competitions are followed with big interest due to the fact that you can see some marvelous trick executions and surfing techniques. And it may be a surprise, but men don't always win. Although they do in most cases, women usually race very well and don't give up easily.
Girl surfing surely is a quite new sport, but it is gaining more and more speed daily, so be ready to wake up some day and see that girl surfing has turned out to be one of the top extreme sports of the world. And the reason that this hasn't happened earlier is the lack of sponsors who are willing to invest in the development of this marvelous sport.
