subject: Little Known Exercises To Get Abs Quick [print this page]

The best exercises to get abs do not necessarily concentrate on the abs. I mean, have you ever had any success doing sit ups and crunches? No. I will tell you why. It is simple really. Then I will tell you how to get those abs fast.

The reason so many people fail to get abs is because they do not understand the principle behind what they are doing. Let us do some math.

To lose a single pound of fat you need to burn 3,500 calories. The average person only burns about 2,000 calories a day. So you can start to see how useless sit ups are for losing weight. They are fine for building muscle. You just will not see it unless you are below 10% body fat for a man and 16% for a woman.

Even if you run a few miles you only burn a few hundred calories.

So, what we need to do is turn up your bodys metabolism. We will do this by lifting weights. That is right, because lifting weights builds muscle and the more muscle you have the more fat you will burn because muscle weighs more than fat and the body has to work harder.

But the kinds of exercises you chose to do are important too. Do not do exercises that isolate one muscle from the other. Do compound muscles that work multiple muscle groups at the same time. These will actually cause your body to go into a state of metabolic shock so you are burning fat at a higher rate for days after.

Now, if you really want to increase your fat burning ability to get those abs I promised fast do compound exercises with a kettle bell. You can burn as many as 20 calories a minute and up to 1% body fat a week with a kettle bell.

This is a Russian device that looks like a cannonball with a handle and is ideal for swinging.

One of the best ways to use this is with the Tabata protocol. Named for Dr. Izumi Tabata who discovered in the 1990s that you could burn a considerable amount of fat in only 4 minutes a day. Simply swing the KB between your legs, thrusting with your hips. Do this for 8 periods of 20 seconds with only a 10 second rest interval. This will not only work you ab muscles but leave you burning fat like a furnace.
