Because of its design it is ideal for swinging which introduces a cardiovascular element which is typically absent from weightlifting. Believe me, swinging a weight from between your legs as you thrust out with your hips may not look like it does much but you will be winded in a matter of swings. In fact, the workout is so intensive that studies have shown you can burn as many as 20 calories a minute and lose as much as 1% body fat a week using a KB.

The best way to use a KB is in a high intensity interval training format in which you move from one exercise to another with only a brief period of rest in between. This will cause you to exert so much effort that your body will turn into a fat burning furnace and you will be burning calories at a higher rate for up to 24 hours afterward.
