subject: He Cheated - Is There A Reason For My Husband To Be Given A Second Chance? [print this page]

I just found out that my husband cheated on me. Is there any possible reason that I should consider giving him a second chance?

The first thing that would come to mind for most women is the one that they'll likely pursue. They'd dump that man that caused their heartaches and turn on friends and family to help them out in this trying times.

The Issue with Asking Support from Friends and Family

Oh you better believe there is a problem with this. So, what could it possibly be?

The thing with rushing back to the accommodating embraces of family and friends is that you still love your husband. It is you who is married to him. And you do have a long history of loving him. It is you who has to live with the loneliness brought about by making such decision.

And what's more into it is that while you may come to terms with forgiving your husband at some time in the future for the cheating he did, your family and friends will most likely not forget about it.

Their love for you is so much that each time they think of or see your husband, they see a person who had hurt their daughter, sister, best friend or cousin. A man who ripped her heart and left her crying while he took off enjoying the good times with some other woman is what they'll see.

It is possible that you'd never be convinced on giving him any chance at all, but the truth is that you are reacting to hurt and anger as of the moment. The following are items that you may not be thinking as of the meantime.

Justification to Giving A Cheating Husband a Second Chance

Your love has gone a long way. It did not just spring out during your marriage and it will definitely not end with his indiscretion.

You're not ready yet to close this chapter in your life. There are situations that all you need is love to help you get through with just anything. And you accept but this is low point along the way but never the end yet.

You believe that he's really sad for what he has done. Yes some men may sound insincere in their apologies but there are those who are really devastated by what they have done just as you are for being the victim.

You believe it will never happen again. This is important. You need to feel convinced that he'll never cheat again before you decide to offer him a second chance.

You believe he would give you a second chance if the roles were reversed. Everyone makes mistakes. You need to believe that he could offer you the same forgiveness you're preparing to extend to him.
