subject: Cool To Use: Iphone [print this page]

Last week my friend had freaked me out by calling so late at night. She had just returned from her shopping spree and was waking me up to tell me that she had just bought an iPhone from the mall. This iPhone she had been dreaming about since months.

One of the most unique things about iPhone was the apps. The applications were made by the third part software developers. There diversities were such that they included everything from celebs news to sports, to social networking sites and GPRS.

The apps today get better and their number gets bigger. According to a rough estimate there are about over two hundred thousand applications present. And there's no stopping here!

This Ramadan which is a holy month in the Islamic calendar again there are so many new apps that will make the observance of this month smooth for the Muslims. For prayer reminders there is the iPray app and to tell the no. of pages a Muslim has read on his iPhone there is the iQuran app. The 'Find Mecca' and 'Find Mosque' apps aid the Muslims in on a journey for their place to worship.

Similarly there are applications for other religions too. For every event and occasions a number of unique applications are developed. The regular ones include the Christian Bible and the Hindu sacred text - the Bhagavad Gita.

One of the most astonishing apps that I came across in a while is the Descent. It is basically a freefall calculator. According to the developers it can calculate the time it would take to freefall to the earth most accurately. It would also be able to calculate the speed you would be travelling before hitting the earth's surface.

Road raging is highly ranked free app. This is where you have to amass fuel and compete with other vehicles on the way. The highly addictive and thought-provoking strategy games are also very popular at the App Store.

These are just some of the apps that make the iPhone such a cool gadget to use. I will call up my friend to check how much she is addicted to her iPhone. May be a can borrow it for few days this time I go around her house ;).
