subject: Preparing Your Parcel For Delivery In Any Season [print this page]

Christmas will soon be upon us and so a lot of people will undoubtedly be looking for the best deals online and do a sizeable chunk of their Christmas shopping on the internet. This should mean a lot of parcels will be arriving at our door in the coming months but for some people it is the other way around, they will be sending parcels themselves, and quite often a lot of these parcels will be bound for overseas to friends and family in England and Scotland as well as here in Ireland too.

The most important thing to do when sending parcels yourself is to ensure that whatever you are sending is packaged correctly and not likely to be damaged or come apart during the delivery process. This stands true for any time during the year not just Christmas. In the summer parcels can still be vulnerable and the conditions and temperature that parcels get exposed to could possibly damage the contents as well as the chance the parcel may not be handled as carefully as you might expect and may be dropped or knocked along the way.

Even if your gifts and parcel contents come in a box or a sturdy vessel it is still recommended to protect them with more than just some tape. In fact for Christmas and birthday presents you may want to gift wrap them but you cant exactly send parcels wrapped solely in gift wrap as this isnt exactly durable and tough enough to withstand the rigours of parcel delivery.

Putting your wrapped gifts inside a slightly larger box along with cushioning can protect your parcel and still retain the attractive or decorative wrapping people expect from presents. Cushioning your parcels can easily be done and doesnt need to cost you lots of money on expensive bubble wrap or polystyrene inserts. If you have these left over from a parcel you have received recently then by all means recycle and reuse these in your parcels but if you dont have this luxury then scrunching up a sheet of newspaper can create a good, lightweight parcel stuffer to protect whatever you are sending.

As long as your parcel is sealed properly it should remain intact for the duration of the delivery process, do this by using proper heavy duty parcel tape. This tape is wider allowing it to effectively close any openings and vulnerable areas as well as being more resistant to tears or cuts.

Pack your parcels the right way to make sure your parcels arrive safe and sound!
