subject: Murano Chandeliers And Art Glass By Afro Celotto, Luca Vidal And More [print this page]

Hand blown glass had been produced on the Venetian Island of Murano since the 9th century. Owning a piece of GENUINE Murano Glass not only gives you a piece you can admire for its brilliance of workmanship and quality, but a piece that will only increase in value over time.

Companies such as Barovier and Toso, Cenedese, AVEM, Laguna Murano and more have produced items with a world-wide reputation for exceptional skill and craftsmanship. Some modern Murano Maestros include Afro Celotto and Luca Vidal. Born in 1963, Afro Celotto began his apprenticeship in F3 International Glass at the age of 15 under the Italian Glass Master Lino Tagliapietra.

Afro Celotto gained the title of "First master" glass-maker at the "La Murrina" international glass factory located on the Island of Murano. There he devoted his time to mastering 2 of the oldest Venetian glass blowing techniques known as FILIGRANA and MURRINA.

Lino Tagliapietra left "F3 International" and opened his own glass blowing studio and when he did, Afro was asked to fill the void left by Lino and so began his Maestro status at F3 International.

In 1999, Afro decided to leave F3 International and establish his own studio. In conjunction with GC. Tagliapietra and Luca Vidal, his studio and fellow glass blowers master the most difficult Venetian Glass Blowing techniques such as inclamo, filigrana, reticello and murrina. When Afro opened his own studio, his skills and mastery of ancient Venetian Glass Blowing techniques have blossomed and he now devotes most of his time to freedom of artistic expression creating unique, stunning and valuable limited edition pieces.

Afro's artistic relationship has blossomed with Pino Signoretto who has in general, been considered the greatest Maestro of Venetian heavy glass sculpture on the Island of Murano. Pino is also a member of another world renowned Glass Blower's team, Dale Chihuly. Afro Celotto and his esteemed team has cooperated with a number of International Glass artists producing some of the most exquisite pieces available. His works adorn the corridors of some of the best galleries in the world.

Murano Chandeliers are still regarded as the very best of their type available anywhere in the world. Striking and difficult glass blowing techniques merge with function, style and sheer brilliance to create items that are of mind-blowing presence. Many are based on old and tested designs from the 11th and 12th centuries with a mix of Glass types and methods such as Filligrana, Millefiore and more. Sizes and styles are only limited by your imagination and your assurances that a piece of glass will only skyrocket in value over time are assured. Put simply, Murano Glass of any kind will always remain highly collectible and keenly sort after. Chandeliers give you a piece of Murano brilliance that has been nurtured since the 9th century. Whichever way you look at it, Murano glass is simply the best in the world!
