subject: Can You Burn Fat Without Omega 3 Supplements [print this page]

A good friend of mine once described his body as a "fat storage

facility." He often joked that he would apply for a government

grant, so that he could get a research job and spend the week

testing himself, after eating and drinking various combinations of

food and alcohol. He didn't get that grant and it might have been

the heart attack that changed his lifestyle. That...and a

cardiologist who gave him this ultimatum:

"Jack...you can keep on living just like you're living now...just be

sure you make all your funeral arrangements now...because you won't

make it another year. But if you do what I tell you to do, you can

live another 30 years."

As you might guess...this scared the bejesus out of my friend Jack

and it's been 12 years since the cardiologist made that

pronouncement. Within a year of that fairly blunt chat, Jack lost 80

pounds and today, you would never guess that at one point, he

weighed north of 275 pounds. He's 63 and people often guess him for

45, which is a hell of a compliment.

Back to my question about burning fat without Omega 3 supplements.

Can you do it? Yes...but it's going to be a much slower process.

The latest research on this comes from Spain, where no one can be

accused of not liking their food, or drink. Spanish researchers have

found that when omega 3 fatty acid supplements are fed to the body,

less fat will be stored and more fat will be burned as fuel, which

means that you will get slimmer...and more fit, faster.

The research also points out that 90% of people today are deficient

in omega 3 fatty acids, which is one of the primary reasons they

have such a hard time losing weight. When you are deficient...your

body mechanics are off kilter and this makes it much harder to drop

the flubber.

Almost everyone wants to drop some weight, but only a small

percentage are successful, meaning that they keep the weight off

permanently. Fish oil is not a magic bullet, but Spanish researchers

say it is very helpful in speeding up the blubber busting. And why

wouldn't you want to speed up the process?

Nobody needs to be a "fat storage facility." The comedian Louie

Anderson said the only thing fat people are good for is showing

movies on their back. (He's a Lardassian, himself.)

So the choice is yours. You can grind it out and hope you succeed in

losing weight, or take pharmaceutical grade fish oil, and increase

your chances of getting slimmer and fitter, faster.
