Before we look at the problems you may be experiencing with ear noise and ringing ears. Let us make no mistake about it, you may currently have ringing in your ears but make sure it is not because you have recently been to a rock concert or stayed out all weekend at a club. These sort of symtoms are to be expected and will fade within a few days (depending of the severity of the gig or club).

If however, your ears are experiencing a continual noise then there is a very good chance you have a condition known as tinnitus. The main thing here is not to panic, since millions of others have the same problem.

The typical symptoms of tinnitus or ringing ears are among others: ringing noises, cricket chirping sounds, buzzing sounds, loud blood flow noises, whooshing sounds. These will be the most common and won't be noticed quite so badly when you are out and about in your daylight hours. Tinnitus really starts to become a problem when all else is quiet around you. Sleeping can become a problem when all you can hear is buzzing sounds.

For the most part, tinnitus, a condition which arises from inner ear damage. Is usually restricted to older people since the general deteriation of the body's finely tunned hearing aparatus is to be expected as we age. However, with the amount of noise pollution, loud working environments, concerts, mp3 players etc. More and more younger people are experiencing the symptoms of ringing ears as well.

Looking after your hearing is a very important prevention against tinnitus and once you have it, it can be problematic getting rid of it again.
