Don't we all wish we had it?
Don't we all wish we had it?

Hit it down the fairway and place it next to the pin on the next shot. That's how the Pro's do it. But what separates them from you, the average golfer?

The answer is not gifted ability or the best equipment. The answer is execution of the best fundamentals. Palmer, Nicklaus, and Player all had different styles to their swing, but all used the same fundamentals.

There is no perfect golf swing, but there are perfect fundamentals. By perfecting these time-tested fundamentals, you will perfect your style of swing.

Grip: This is the first step to changing your game. How do you grip the club?

As a righty, you should interlock your left pointer finger with your right picky. Your right thumb should also over lap your left thumb. Doing so will allow your hands to lock in the club and prevent slipping.

Grip Pressure: Hold the club at about a 5 on a 1 to 10 scale. This will allow your forearms to relax and the club to flow through impact. Sam Snead said, "Hold the club as if you had a little baby bird in your hand."

Posture: Having the correct alignment is a huge contributor to the perfect golf swing. Make sure your knees have some flex to them. Keep your back fairly straight. Have your knees shoulder width apart. Doing so will give you a stronger base and more distance.

Pivot: Your legs should be working in synchronization with your hands. Little to no movement in your legs will make it difficult to strike the ball with optimal force. As your hands draw backward, you legs should turn slightly.

Coming through impact, you should thrust your legs forward through the ball. This will create more distance and allow you to drive down on the ball.

Don't be afraid to take a divot. If there is no divot, chances are your didn't hit the ball correctly.

Alignment: Always pick a target in front of your ball to aim at before your shot. Look at the pin and then pick a small object a few inches in front of your ball to aim at. Doing this will improve your accuracy. Aiming at an object a few inches in front is more effective than aiming at a target 200 yards down the fairway.

Mental Aspect: This is perhaps the most important and most difficult aspect to master your golf swing. The less you can think about the fundamentals we just discussed, the better off you will be. Learn to focus on these fundamentals at the range, but physically put them to use on the course. If you can over-come the mental part of golf game, you will achieve great success in building the perfect golf swing.

There are many products you can use to improve your game as well. Swing trainers can be beneficial in finding the minor adjustments that need to be made.

Grip Enhancers such as Quick Grip can dramatically improve your game by preventing the club from slipping in your hands. Having a good grip is the source of every swing. Perfect your grip and the rest will fall into place.

Although the perfect golf swing is not easy to achieve, it is certainly attainable.
