subject: The Four Best Sonic Games [print this page]

Sonic games are popular with not only younger gamers but also the adult crowd. This is because Sonic has been here for over ten years now. And in those years he has gained many fans even though Sega does not make consoles anymore, losing Sonic as a flagship character. He is now found on all the consoles in one way or the other. Let's take a look at some cool Sonic games.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Great graphics and the gameplay in this game stayed the same compared to the previous Sonic game, but the levels are more interactive. There are more context sensitive items you can interact with. Every level has also a boss at the end instead of every other level.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2

This game introduced one of Sonic his signature moves, the spin dash. Sonic crawls up into a ball and starts spinning faster and faster. Suddenly he shoots forward, rolling through the level destroying everything in his path. This is one move that everybody uses while playing.

Sonic and Knuckles

Excellent game in where you get to choose between Sonic and Knuckles. They each have their own set of skills. For example, Knuckles can glide and punch through walls, while Sonic can do double jumps and is much faster. These differences are evident in the way you complete the stages and fight bosses.

Sonic Adventure

Sonic Adventure is a beautiful 3D game that was well received by the public. Of course there were people who doubted that Sonic could crossover to 3D. Not only did he do, but he made a big splash, also.

Most of the games in the list are 2D games. The newer fans might not be familiar with the 2D Sonic. This is a shame and they should play the older games. Those were the glory days when Sonic was in competition with his rival Mario. But Mario could never keep up with Sonic.

After playing these four games you will notice why they are so popular. Not only are the graphics incredible for its time, the music was great, also. And the gameplay is responsive and very enjoyable.
