subject: It's Easy To Make Your Own Leather Motorcycle Vest [print this page]

For many people, being a motorbike rider is a personal experience. Some people travel long distances on their motorbikes and what better way to display your experiences than a customized leather motorcycle vest.

The first thing you need to do is gather the items you need. You can purchase needle, thread, metal snaps, scissors and soft leather to your taste either online or from a sewing supply shop. If you would rather have a zip you can get a zip rather than snaps. You should also have an old T shirt that you can use as a pattern to work around. Make sure the seams match both at the back and the front.

Using an old T shirt as a base is ideal as you cut around the collar and cut out the arms to produce a template for the soft leather. Cut out the leather and sew it together. Make sure it fits before you add snaps or zippers. Getting a different pattern can give you a reversible jacket which can be useful if you are in a hurry!

When you are happy with your design you can add badges. These can vary from standard biker images such as devils or eagles. Equally you can have your own designs with images more relevant to you, your gang or your local area.

Many people look at motorcycling websites or magazines for inspiration for their designs, although equally it can be personal to you. Trace it out onto paper first before making it.

When you becoming a bit more confident with your sewing, you can add badges and logos. You could customize it to show membership of a biker gang or purely to express yourself!
