subject: Adventure Awaits In The Great Outdoors [print this page]

The continental US and its outlying territories are bursting with possibilities in its many mountains, valleys, beaches and forests. Theres so much more than just fishing. Bike riding or watching the stars are just a couple things to consider doing. In the Great Outdoors you'll see true magnificent beauty.

Whether you're a pro or new to camping, research can help ensure you create a wonderful experience. National parks around the country are always popular camping vacation areas. Parks like Yellowstone and the Great Smoky Mountains offer the chance to fully enjoy the outdoor experience. For experienced campers or adventurers who want a particularly special trip, there are plenty of unique camping options. The Forty Mile Canyon in Utah has some great hiking, and you can do it year round. In this amazing wonder you can hike in and around the broad canyon walls and cotton-wood trees. For a little playful respite, you can wade or swim in a shimmering pool beneath the canyon's 12-foot waterfall.

Beyond the tall buildings of the cities, the San Gorgonio Mountain in California presents a spectacular view. The mountaintop over 11,000 feet up lets you see a gorgeous sprawling view of Southern California. You can admire the open sky as well as see down to the deserts of the Joshua Tree National Park below. Back in the east you can also find great peaks in the Appalachian Mountains and foothills.

For unique camping adventures, don't be afraid to look for undiscovered and little-known areas. If youre up for a little skinny-dipping at dusk consider the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Michigan. One of the best attractions there is the spectacular view that becomes visible as the lights start fading at dusk. For optimal stargazing away from the concrete and smog of the city, a great place to camp is Mount Wrightson Wilderness in Arizona. High on the tree-free summit you can see the Milky Way like youve never seen it before. The Hawaiian islands are another hotspot to find plenty of exciting opportunities for excursions.

From sunbathing and swimming to eating and drinking, campsites offer some of the best entertainment around. With friends or family or even a few strangers, you'll have plenty of fun whatever you choose to do. Everywhere you look there's plenty of nature's bounty to experience and enjoy.
