subject: New Bangkok aiport link opens up new housing opportunities [print this page] It has finally arrived, after years of delays and construction, the brand new airport link has opened for operation. Trains run every 15 minutes from 6am until midnight, every day 365 days per year. Currently a single trip journey costs 15 Baht. Much like the BTS line, the new airport link uses Siemens trains. It takes 15 minutes from Suvarnabumi Airport to Makkasan Station near to Asoke on the express train, and about 20 minutes on the commuter/city line train.
The new airport link connects with the MRT underground at Makkasan, and connects directly with the BTS line at Payathai. So, are there any good housing estates on the new airport link line?
Surprisingly, actually there is very little on offer. The airport link line runs parallel to the Rama 9 Motorway. This means that on the north side of the airport line the motorway takes up about 100m of land for the entire length, and if you live on the northern side on the motorway, you will have a long, dusty and noisy walk over the motorway each day to get to the airport link.
In fact, there is only 1 housing estate that offers direct and walk-able access to the airport link it is called Lalin Green Ville.
Lalin Green Ville is located right next to the Baan Thap Chang station on the airport link line. The developer of the housing project also incorporated a side entrance to the estate which is a pedestrian entrance that leads right to the airport link station. Residents literally walk down the steps of the airport link station and into the housing estate. A traffic free walk through private tree shaded streets.
Lalin Green Ville is a high/medium quality estate. Houses are typically 180 sq.m. 240 sq.m. with 3 or 4 bedrooms, all fully detached and some houses have nice gardens. The estate also has a clubhouse with fitness and 18m swimming pool.

This is a modern 4 bedroom house with lovely garden, 240 sq.m., brand new kitchen and the asking rental amount is set at a very reasonable 55,000 Baht/month. This house is 200m from the airport link station, 15 minutes from Makkasan and 18 minutes from the Payathai BTS station.
Fancy going to Chatujak Market? Well from this house it is under 30 minutes guaranteed, in the comfort of a brand new air conditioned elevated rail line.
It is equivalent to living in central Thong Lor. In fact, with traffic as bad as it is, it would take less time from this house in Lalin Green Ville to go to Paragon in Siam that it would if you lived in central Thong Lor, where prices of an equivalent house would easily be double!!
Living on the East of the city also has advantages if you are planning a trip outside of Bangkok, as Lalin Green Ville is next to the Rama 9 motorway and the outer ring road. In fact, from this house it takes 1 hour to Pattaya, 2 hours to Rayong, 2.5 hours to Hua Hin. Travel times are cut down significantly as you save time in getting out of the city.
