That buzzing or ringing noise in our ears has a name. It is called Tinnitus. I think you would agree that there is a huge difference in hearing an occasional ringing, buzzing, or chirping noise, and hearing those noises constantly, day in and day out.
The occasional ringing noise does not present a problem, and most of us do not pay much attention to it. But, when the noise gets to be constant, we begin to look for ways to make it go away.
The constant noise interferes with daily activities, and it will keep us awake at night. After many nights of no rest, we are crabby and hard to live with.
We know we need relief from the noise that is messing up our lives. But the question may be: where do we start to find relief. For most of us, the first stop would be the family doctor, just to be sure there is nothing physically wrong.
Perhaps our doctor tells us that Tinnitus is only the body's alarm system alerting us that something else is going on that needs our attention. The doctor may prescribe some medication that will help us get some rest so we can think clearly again.
Then, the search for help really begins. Our doctor has already told us there is no magic pill that can cure the noise that is disrupting our lives. While that news may be disappointing, let us not lose hope. I Hear Ringing In My Ears
I hear those noises we are talking about, especially at night when the house gets quiet and I am trying to get to sleep. Some nights they are not too bad, but on other nights they interrupt my rest and I have not learned to be patient with that.
Among the first things I did was go online and see what I could find about Tinnitus. I was surprised to learn that Tinnitus affects all ages now, not just the old folks. And there are some common causes, such as trauma, stress, dehydration, and many others.
There are as many causes for these noises as there are people who hear them. It made me wonder what the next step would be. Someone recommends we make a list of those causes, and begin to systematically go through the list and eliminate each one, to the best of our ability.
All of us know that stress affects everyone. And some of us wish we could eliminate all stress from our lives. But we can do something, once we learn where the stress comes from. Just a little extra exercise will do wonders to relieve stress.
Who among us could not drink more water? That was a big one for me. I do not like water and it took some discipline to bring about that change. And, to my surprise it helped.
Take a look at your lifestyle and identify some of the causes that may be affecting you and begin today to eliminate some of them. You will be very pleased when you see the results of your new discipline. I Hear Ringing In My Ears
