subject: Tradespersons With Approved Electrical Qualifications Could Benefit From 25m Sc [print this page] The construction of a 25 million new building at Longfield Academy has begun, according to This is Local London, which could create employment opportunities for qualified electricians and plumbers.
In addition to providing a state-of-the-art sports gym, a dance studio, theatre, art gallery, restaurant and facilities for 35 autistic students, the new building will house three separate academies, each holding 385 pupils.
The project is expected to last 84 weeks, with a predicted end date in June 2011.
Sarah Hohler Kent County Council's cabinet member for children, families and education believes that the scheme will make a lasting difference to children attending Longfield Academy.
"When complete, students for generations to come will benefit from first class facilities and the best environment in which to learn," she said.
Electricians and plumbers with approved qualifications could reap the rewards of the project, especially with high standards being demanded to ensure pupils can get the most out of the new building.
Longfield Academy was awarded the Green flag award in September 2008, which signified the success of its Eco-Schools campaign.
