subject: Why Do HVAC Contractors Like Their Jobs? [print this page]

To most people work isn't something to be enjoyed. "It's a paycheck," is a very common way to sum up how we feel. Our parents and teachers used to tell us that there is good and bad to every job. That's very true.

An HVAC contractor job is no exception to this rule. AC contractors spend a lot of hours doing backbreaking labor. Most people don't realize it, but AC contractors, like many other tradesmen, spend a lot of time in very hot attics or outdoors carrying heavy tools and parts. Smelly, dirty dusty or dank crawl spaces are an everyday occurrence. It's not uncommon to run in to dens of snakes, pests and spiders underneath people's homes while installing duct work either.

So why, with everything they must go through for their jobs, do HVAC contractorslike their jobs so much? Every contractor is different and likes their jobs for different reasons, but there are some upsides to being a NYC HVAC contractor that beats out being an AC contractor in other locations.

In NYC contractors a paid a pretty decent wage. While the city is never an easy place to get by, it is easier when you make an above average wage. Contractors get to meet lots of interesting people. If you've ever hung around one, you are sure to hear funny or amazing stories about the cool apartments and fun people they have had the privilege of meeting. Sometimes NYC HVAC contractors get to work in famous buildings or meet famous, powerful people that others would love to meet. There is also less monotony when moving from place to place on the job. A change of scenery every day or every few days is great. This is one of the main reasons so many AC contractors stick with their jobs.

Most NYC HVAC contractors have a four year apprenticeship and then have to pass a very difficult test to get a license. Beyond that, most of these tradesmen also have at least two years of technical school. People don't realize that they are paying for an educated tradesman to work on their ac units. Tradesmen enjoy the anonymity of dressing in a uniform and being able to blend in to a crowd. How many other jobs that require a master's degree level or equivalent education can you think of where you would get to wear jeans on the job?

HVAC repairmen also love that they can drive nice trucks, use power tools and have the satisfaction of pleasing customers with their good work. Every HVAC contractor is very happy when their customers are happy and love repeat calls for work later on down the line.

Mike's Air Conditioning is a New York City AC contracting company with plenty of repeat clientele. Their numbers of satisfied customers are growing every day.
