subject: Problems With The Metal Bunk Bed [print this page]

Most children have slept in bunk beds at one point in their lives or the other. As the cost of rental and the prices of property rises, the popularity of bunk beds will also rise because of its space savings properties, not to mention its beautiful artistic designs.

In the present time, classifications are made according to the materials used and the model. The most common one is made up of metals. Several designs, sizes and colors are already out in the market. Bunk beds made of metals are very light and the cost is cheaper compared to others.

Unlike the wooden ones, metal bunk beds received some complaints from the ones using the beds enough to order the recall of these products from their distributors because of health concerns.

A controversy erupted that the top bunks of these beds have collapsed. Their designs are not good and have problems with the alignments.

Aside from that issue, metal beds are not secured to use. The joints are not strongly connected so that if the parents use it, they have to weld it again after a period of time. There is hassle and a feeling of discomfort using this kind of bed then.

Rust and corrosion is also a problem with the metal frame. After a few years of use, the tendency is they become brittle and easily deteriorate and break.

To look attractive, metal beds are painted but as time goes by, this paint will fade away and chip off. And you will notice also that it will eventually curve and bend even if only children will use it, normally children jump and play in bed.

Finally, metal bunk beds follow the motion of the person sleeping on it. They move as the person moves. Since they are not sturdy enough, they may not be safe for children to use.
