subject: Magic - Keeping it Unique [print this page]

When going to magic shows have you always wondered how they do it? What about the thought of trying to replicate the same tricks they did and possibly become a magician yourself? Well I have always been a fan of magic and am always puzzled to how they create those awesome tricks, but how do they stay unique though? One of the biggest mysteries that have always puzzled me is how they use the levitator or cut someone in half. Of course this sounds like an exciting trick but how many magicians can get away with it before people get bored? There are always great new magicians coming into the field but how would you differentiate yourself?

There are many different types and performances of magicians that a magician can dedicate themselves too.

Here are the different types:

Stage Illusions

Platform magic

Bizarre magic

Shock magic

Street magic

Gospel magic

Mathemagic

Corporate magic

Online magic

Children's magic

Theatrical

Mentalism

Escapology

Micromagic

Based upon what your interests are, I would highly recommend studying a little bit about each different type of magic to see which one fits you the most. People are split into demographics and like different things so plan accordingly and be sure to only pick a category or two. Starting your career as a magician can be tough at first, trying to make a name for yourself, but it is the uniqueness about yourself that will allow you to be remembered and stand out from the rest of the crowd.
