However, whilst never easy; there are a number of steps to quit smoking that could help. As you first start to think of quitting, set yourself a date. As you approach this date, try already to minimize the number of cigarettes you have each day. That you are thinking of quitting should help in this regard. Many people use smoking as a way to ward of boredom; so this could be an issue when giving up. Try and distract yourself with a hobby; in the early days too, it could be good to visit public areas where you are not allowed to smoke. It is likely you will be in a group of smokers; certainly at certain points through your daily activities. If practical, try and limit your exposure to these people and, if necessary, places. Being one of the hardest things to do; those quitting smoking need a strong support group around, to help through the rough patches. Surround yourself with friends, family and colleagues that are on your side. Whilst gentle humor can often help, those constantly giving witty ripostes about your task should be avoided. Another common are where smoking raises its head is when stress and anxiety levels are high. If this is you, try looking at relaxation classes, yoga, tai chi and the like. These will also provide a hobby for you of course; so will be doubly effective! You should also take a look at your diet. Whilst not always the case these days; many smokers have a poor diet full of cholesterol and alcohol. Try and work fresh fruit and vegetables into your diet; which will help ward off cravings and boost your immunity. There are many more steps to quit smoking; many of which are very individual.
