subject: Invest in the Right Elements of Home Lighting [print this page]

Home lighting can make or break the overall appearance of your home. Believe it or not, many people wouldn't notice whatever lights you put in your ceiling or walls unless they really look great or look exceedingly bad. Playing safe, however, renders no impact at all. Surely, you want your dream home to look perfect in every surface and angle. Remember you'll be creating memories with loved ones, families and friends in your home and live in it for many years until your last breath. It's important, therefore, to invest in the right elements that will help you live in your home in total delight and beauty.

There are only a few things you need to think about when it comes to home lighting. Every room in the house should receive a layer of task, mood and accent lighting. Task lighting is particularly important. By the name itself, it allows you to perform whatever specific tasks you need to do in each room with total ease. In the kitchen, for example, it is food preparation and cooking. In the home office, it's finishing up those presentations for work. In the bathroom, it's the intricate application of makeup or shaving process. All these activities require a more intense flood of light. You can get more focused lights from lighting fixtures such as recessed lights and track lights.

Mood lighting is another important consideration. It's not every time you'll require an intense amount of light in your home. When you're watching TV, you only require a subtle hint of light to lessen the glare from the TV monitor. Soaking in the tub and lying down in the bedroom requires a softer glow. You can achieve proper mood lighting by using lights such as chandeliers and pendants and attaching dimmers on them.

Lastly, accent lighting is required. This area of home lighting gives pizzazz and character into your home. Artworks, sculptures and architectural elements of the house can be highlighted using a set of downlights, uplights and track lights.
