Everyone enjoys a good night's sleep, and it is very important that we all get our nightly dose. There are surprisingly many factors when it comes to making sure one gets a satisfactory amount of sleep, and if when you wake up in the morning you're still feeling groggy and not refreshed, it's a sign you are not getting the sleep you need. There are many tips for a better nights sleep, but here are just a few to getting the most out of your sleeping time.

Stay away from caffeine

It may sound obvious to say, but caffeine anytime after the morning, still stimulates the body during the evening when you may be looking to calm down and relax. It is advised; if you need your daily dose of caffeine, you should stick to drinking coffee in the mornings.

Bed is there for sleeping

Avoid using the bed for working or lying on before you are ready to go to sleep. Your body will associate your bed not as a place to sleep on, and will find it difficult to fall asleep when you feel you are ready to go to bed.

Quantity and Quality

The amount and quality of your sleep is very important. If you find yourself reaching for the snooze button when you wake up, you may have had a bad nights sleep, not had enough sleep, or not enough time in the bed.

Avoid Bright Light

Avoid any bright lights in the time when you are preparing to go to bed, bright lights stimulate the mind. This includes if you are reading a book, make sure you have a lamp with low wattage.

Don't Stress - Chill

If you are worried you are not getting enough sleep, don't worry as sleep will come eventually. Worrying will just add to your problems of not being able to get to sleep. Also make sure your room temperature is not too hot, as this affects the body when trying to get to sleep.

Memory Foam Mattress

Inevitably, the main thing that affects sleep is the choice of mattress and if the quality of your mattress isn't up to scratch then your sleep will suffer because of it. There are many benefits to be gained from a memory foam mattress. A good quality memory foam mattress moulds to your body shape while sleeping, making sure all pressure points are supported. This means there is 80% less need to roll over, which could disrupt the sleeping pattern. It has been found that if someone has undisturbed sleep, they feel better and perform task more efficiently the following day. Memory foam is scientifically proven to aid in a good nights sleep, and if you don't recognise the need for a solid night sleep then you are misjudging the benefits it has.

These are just some tips to follow if you are having trouble sleeping, or even waking up. A good night's sleep is important when starting a new day, as it means the mind is active and body is ready. If continuous nights sleep is gained, you will only reap the benefits and feel rejuvenated; having a set bed time and wake up time can only do your body good, as you will have a structure to your day.
