subject: How to Eat Healthy While Dinning Out [print this page] Copyright (c) 2010 Bryan CarltonI am not sure about you, but when I go for a coffee break, a quick snack or even out for dinner. I find it very hard to stay on track, as my schedule is flexible and allows me to go out on a regular basis.
Maybe you don't even go out to eat.Regardless, if you try to get a nice figure or wanting to keep that fit body, snacking and dining out will give you a huge obstacle to overcome. Eating Out is one of many reasons why so many people are packing on all those extra unwanted pounds when going out, traveling or just away from your house.I am going to give you a few very simple and easy tricks you can use to eat healthier and stay leaner, while even dinning out.The three things that you should avoid at any restaurant are:
1. Deep fried foods (this also includes is anything that is battered or deep fried in any type of oil or fat)
2. Any type of refined starchy foods
3. Most importantly any soda, juices, or other sugary, syrupy foods (except whole fruits)If your are able to eliminate these three major culprits, you will eliminate the major sources of food that do the most damage to our diets. These foods contain - trans fat, refined vegetable oils, refined starchy carbohydrates, and of course processed sugar. That means you should be trying to skip the complementry table bread, the all you can eat or side dish French Fries that come with every single sandwich, and reduce all the heaping (all you can eat) portions of pasta and rice that are often loaded on the plate.Instead, try to order just meat with a side order of vegetables, and a salad or soup as a substitute for the bread and French Fries that usually come with your snacks and meals.Every restaurant is trying to get your money, therefore; they should be more than happy to substitute vegetables or a side salad for the French Fries or chips that always come with burgers and sandwiches. If you have a look at the typical difference that some simple substitutions make between choosing something smart...Every one loves to eat and most people eat meals like:
- Burger or a Sandwich
- Chips or French Fries
- Those bottomless Soda's or any other sugar sweetened drinks (note: diet sodas are just as unhealthy as regular soda)A MUCH healthier and smarter alternative for a healthier and leaner body is a simple change:
- Burger or a Sandwich
- Salad, Soup or Vegetables
- Unsweetened Ice Tea, Tea (make sure it is loaded with anti oxidants) or WaterBy simply substituting the above two items, you are cutting out 400 - 900 calories or more depending on the drink refills and French Fries portions... Secondly, you are eliminating some of the most harmful foods for your body as well as avoiding the evils of deep fried foods, trans fat and high fructose corn syrup, all from the two simple items of French Fries and a soft drink.Another interesting fact that we should all be aware of is that we can eat a full portion of pasta, rice and breads and get away with it and not put on any body fat! How you may ask? Simply, by making sure to schedule a high intensity full body workout before your scheduled meal time.Sometimes it may be hard to find a gym or even to fit a workout into your schedule right before the meal, but if you can, the meal can be your "post-workout meal". After a high intensity workout, your body can handle a higher amount of carbs than normal to help replenish the muscle glycogen depletion you had during your intense workout.A low intensity cardio workout will NOT cut it for this... it must be high intensity workout to deplete enough muscle glycogen to handle all the extra portions of carbs.I hope these dining tips will help you choose a smarter and healthier meal plan for a leaner body next time you eat out.Don't be lazy... be lean.PS - if you liked this article, feel free to forward this link on to any of your friends, family, or co-workers who you think might enjoy it.
