One of the things you severely damaged in your relationship by cheating is the trust your mate had with you. It's not just that you cheated but you probably were deceitful, manipulative and possibly lied quite often, to cover up your tracks.
You also perhaps risked the health of your mate by sleeping with someone else.
One way to begin to restore a relationship after cheating has occurred is to be honest. That means that you will need to answer all of your partner's questions, as painful as they may be, in a truthful manner.
You might feel the need to shield and protect your relationship by holding back or telling little white lies. Just remember, deceitfulness is what contributed to this relationship problem so if you keep it up you will kill any chance of long term relationship recovery.
Seek Forgiveness
Another way to repair your hurting relationship is to seek true forgiveness from your partner. Realize that what you did was so vile and hurtful that forgiveness and healing will take time. You need to be understanding, supportive and patient as your mate works through each issue.
Have a repentant heart and contrite spirit and be humble. If your heart and motives are pure then you will have a good chance of being forgiven.
Commit to Changes
If you want to restore your relationship after cheating then you know in your heart things need to be different. You may feel like you have learned your lesson and will never commit adultery again.
However, you probably also never thought you would be in this situation. You must make changes in order to make sure that you don't allow adultery to creep into your relationship.
You need to be able to commit to making changes that allow your partner to feel safe and trusting of you and your relationship after cheating is uncovered.
