The rift is also surrounded by highland forests, ranges like the famous Aberdare that is home Buffalos, Elephants and the now threatened Bongo Antelope. Great communities also inhibit this rift and they are normally nomads. These communities go by the different names like Rendille, Samburu, Masaai and others.
