subject: Sleepwalking Treatment [print this page]

Sleepwalking or somnambulism is characterized by the performance of activities that a person normally does while in the wakeful state instead of while sleeping or being in a sleep-like state.

People who sleepwalk can be seen walking in the house or street, turning the lights on and off, cleaning the house, talking, going places, throwing things, abusing, hitting their partner, and others. Extreme cases involve committing murder or having sex with strangers while sleepwalking.

Sleepwalkers have a glazed look in their eyes. There is no solid evidence for its cause, but some say the causes for this disorder include sleep deprivation, worry, stress, fatigue, and anxiety. Although there is no known cure for sleepwalking, some of the treatments that can be employed are clinical hypnotherapy and the use of psychotropic drugs.

According to a research conducted by the Spiritual Science Research Foundation, the main causes for sleepwalking are spiritual factors. This can be a reason why modern science cannot provide a cure for it. Some of these spiritual factors are the common ghost playing pranks or making the person get into some small mischief. It can also be related to departed ancestors.

Since the root cause of sleepwalking has to do with spirituality, the way to treat it is through spiritual remedies. Some of these are the following:

* Have a regular spiritual practice.

* The spiritual practice must be a daily and lifelong commitment to protect yourself from spiritual harm and to promote spiritual progress,

* It is better for the partner and family members to also get involved in the spiritual practice. This ensures protection from spiritual beings.

* Not waking up the sleepwalker is a myth. Whether the cause for sleepwalking is spiritual or psychological, you should wake the person up. If the cause is spiritual, waking the person up stops the manifestation of the spiritual entity. On the other hand, if the cause is psychological, the person must be awoken to keep them from hurting themselves or others.
