subject: Best Self Defense Against Dog Attacks [print this page]

Close to 5 million Americans are victims of dog bites annually and those are the ones that are reported. Millions more go unreported. Of those close to 800,000 people require medical attention with almost half of them being kids. Scary facts if you ask me.

When you consider how many people walk, jog and bicycle I guess that's really not that big of a percentage. And by no means am I diminishing the terror is caused by a charging dog. I have been victim of that many times myself because I walk almost every day.

I don't have much sympathy for dog owners who are you irresponsible and don't follow leash laws. And I don't have much sympathy for dogs either. Dogs are animals and as such they have in their DNA to bite and some to attack. That's just the way they are.

But when it comes to stopping charging dog or dog defense, what is the best self defense against a charging dog? What is the best defense against a dog attack?

I used to carry the telescopic stun baton and used it on more than one occasion to defend against a charging dog. It is now my second most favorite dog defense. The Mace pepper gun has taken over as my recommendation.

First of all it uses a 10 percent concentration of oleoresin capsicum or OC. This full strength pepper spray is approximately 4 to 5 times stronger than normal dog sprays.

Second it contains more OC than any other pepper spray with enough for seven 25 foot shots. So even if you happen to miss with either your first or second shot you can still get off a third or fourth shot to defend yourself or you can fend off multiple dogs.

When it comes to defending yourself against dog attacks you don't want to leave anything to chance. Ask anyone who has gone through the terrifying experience-they will tell you how bad it can be. Get the best defense against a dog attack-the Mace pepper gun.

When are you getting one?

A 10 percent solution of OC spray is illegal in some jurisdictions. So check the internet or your local sheriff's department first before getting some.

If you think crime can only happen to the other guy you are wrong. The "other guy" is thinking the same thing and to him you are that "other guy". There is a reason why they call it self defense. You have to protect yourself, your family, your home and business!!

Chances are if you are reading this that a dog attack has touched your life in some way or you consider yourself at risk. Take the next step and do something to protect yourself! Your life and safety is worth far more than the cost of one of these pepper guns.
