Basically affiliate marketing is when you promote someone elses products and then you get a commission for each sale. There are two main ways to do this.
Firstly you have a website / blog where you have links to sales pages for the products you want to be affiliates for (promote). And secondly, you can get peoples email addresses and send them emails with products you recommend to them.
Both of these methods are cheap. But many people have failed to make real money with affiliate marketing. And there are three main reasons for this.
People have no idea where to start and they spend a lot of time and money buying products that tell them how to become an affiliate marketer. But the problem is that these products are usually written by someone who hasnt made any money from affiliate marketing themselves.
Secondly, it is very very important to find what is called a Niche. A Niche is a small section of a market. For example, you may want to promote golf products. But there are a lot of golf products out there from equipment and clothing to trolleys and golf carts. A niche is a very specific sector of the market.
So a niche in the golf market would be a group of people who are looking for ways to fix their slice or trying to get rid of the shanks. And that is your niche a small number of people looking for something specific. You then look for products that help people fix these problems so you can promote to them.
The last problem new affiliate marketers have is that they fail to collect peoples email addresses and they fail to get traffic to their website / blog. Without the traffic and email list you cant advertise, because no one knows that you exist.
To succeed at affiliate marketing you need an untapped niche market full of people that are ready, willing and eager to spend. Then you find a product that solves their problem. And then you get those people to your website or signed up to your email list where you can start advertising to them.
