subject: Improving How Your Atv Drives [print this page]

The ride of an ATV is meant to be a fun oneThe ride of an ATV is meant to be a fun one. ATV's are known for how well they climb and crawl over terrain. In order to keep your ATVs functioning at a high level, you will need to fix them when things break.

If you are noticing that your ATV is more bumpy than usual first check your tires. It could be a number of different things all related to the wheel or the wheel shaft. Start here before you assume it's something else.

Make sure your tires aren't flat. Even though ATV tires are made to withstand some pretty tough terrain, they are not invincible. It is not uncommon to get a flat and you may not even notice it at first.

Tire tread can be a big issue especially for a vehicle that's known for its traction. Bald tires will make it almost impossible to get up steep hills and will cause you to burn out when you first get going. Make sure you change them as soon as you can.

The pressure in the tires also affects your ride. Usually ATV riders like their tire pressure to be on the low end. This makes it easier to climb hills. You may want to let some pressure out and see if this helps how the ATV drives.

Having a loose wheel or other loose parts will cause your ride to be very shaky. Check all the nuts and bolts to make sure they are tightened. The last thing you want is a part flying off into the air.

ATV shocks are also known to blow pretty regularly depending on the quality of shock you have. As the ATV shock starts to go out you will notice your ride is much bumpier and shaky. Good ATV shocks are a pretty essential part of an ATV so you really can't ride around on bad ones.

Any problems with your ATV should be checked out. They are tough vehicles but definitely not invincible. Just like cars, the better you take care of them the longer they will last.
