subject: Be Certain Of Your Success! [print this page] I have always been fascinated by the power of the mind and its ability to affect our reality, for better or for worse. So when I came across a post in the Chris Farrell membership forum with a link to a video of Tony Robbins discussing success with two former (and very successful) students and internet marketers, I was intrigued.
John Reese and Frank Kern wanted to discuss why so many of their customers who buy their informational and coaching products just dont follow through and take the action necessary to reach their goals.
They were interested in finding the common denominator among those that dont take action as well as the key quality common to those who do indeed take massive and determined action toward achieving success.
Tony was clear on the issue. People have limiting beliefs about themselves and their abilities.
Two things are essential for achieving our goals: intense desire and an inner vision of our success.
All three of these guys had a driving desire, even need for change in their lives. They referred to it as having their backs against the wall. Their need to succeed fueled the energy that catapulted them into action. It was a sort of fight or flight adrenaline rush that got them going.
But that was only the first ingredient that enabled them to take constant action despite disappointing setbacks.
The second and critical factor was their common belief in the certainty of their success. They all had a vision held constantly in the forefront of their minds of themselves succeeding. This vision was personal and detailed.
John used to bring auto trader magazines to his job at a video store and pick out the Porsche he would buy when he would find success. His boss tried to protect him from disappointment by discouraging him from what could be his futile dreams, but when a few years later John drove up to the store in his new Porsche he was happy to prove his old boss wrong.
He was absolutely sure that he would be driving a fancy sports car. It was just a matter of time.
Tony gave some examples of people who achieved phenomenal success by doing daily visualization exercises.
One famous example was Andre Agassi, who had dropped from number one to number 37 in the world in a short time. Tony had Andre visualize himself making perfect shots over and over again. The next weekend he won the match. Within a few months he was back to number one again.
Our beliefs and visions about ourselves and our chances for success have a direct affect on our reality. We can create a self-fulfilling prophecy.
If we truly want to succeed we must envision how success will change our lives for the better, in Technicolor detail. And we must believe in ourselves and the process.
Many of us know the feeling of buying a new product that promises to help us reach our goals. It gives us a buzz and a feeling of escape that allows us to imagine that we are already successful to some extent.
But without the certainty that we can and will succeed as long as we take consistent action one step at a time, we are at risk for giving up too soon. Then we either blame the product and say it doesnt work, or blame ourselves because I knew I wouldnt succeed.
No program is magic. But our thoughts are quite magical.
We must find successful models, be determined to emulate them and not get overwhelmed.
The key is to keep our personal vision of our success daily at the forefront of our minds. The best way is to set aside a time to do consistent visualization exercises.
With this clear vision, we have only to keep our focus on each step of the process to experience certain success!
